Things to consider before applying:

  • Applying does not guarantee a space at HCA. All applications are screened for current grades, behavior, and required references.

  • Classes may fill up before your application is complete. Please make sure to submit all required documents as soon as possible.
    The application fee is non-refundable.

  • A consultation with HCA is required for all applications. Students are required to attend. This is the final step before acceptance. Consultations may be denied during enrollment season if an application and all supporting documents are not received.

  • Applying for HCA is not the applying for the Florida scholarship program.  Please log on to Step Up Students to apply for a scholarship. Receiving SUFS does not guarantee a space at HCA. These are separate events.

  • Priority applications must be completed before June 1. After June 1, your application may not be considered for the following school year.

  • Students with a low GPA/grade, attendance issues, retention of the previous school year, or behavioral issues may be denied without an interview. Do not apply if your student has had any suspensions in the last school. Your application will not be considered.

  • HCA may not be able to accommodate students with learning challenges or disabilities. Each student is evaluated on his/her ability to function in a regular classroom. HCA does not offer modifications to the curriculum. HCA cannot serve the needs of all students but will review any relevant information before making a decision. Application fees will not be refunded if you choose to apply. Any student with an identified disability is required to submit an IEP or 504 plan before acceptance.

  • HCA has the right to refuse any family a consultation based on various factors. HCA tries to accommodate most families, but students who do not meet minimum requirements will not be interviewed in most situations.

The school admits students of any race to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at that school, and it does not discriminate on the basis of race in administering its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
