Frequently Asked Questions

What are the hours of your school day?

Our school day begins at 8:00 am, and we end our day at 3:00 pm.

Do you offer early drop-off or aftercare?
Early drop-off is available for all families beginning at 7:20 a.m.
Aftercare is available for students each day until 5:30 p.m.  This fee is based on the day or by the quarter.

Is your school accredited?

HCA is accredited through the Cognia and League of Christian Schools.

Are your teachers certified?

Our goal is that all teachers have a minimum of a 4-year degree and complete professional development each year in their teaching area.  Many of our teachers are state-certified, have master's degrees, and are pursuing additional education.

Do you have to be a church member to attend?

No.  While our core beliefs are of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that the Bible is the inherent word of God, you or your child do not have to have the same beliefs.  However, through our weekly Chapel, our daily Bible lessons, and throughout the day, our faculty and staff will teach these core values.  It is expected that all students, no matter what faith, respect and honor these values.

Are there scholarships or financial aid programs available?

Yes.  Several state programs provide scholarships to qualifying families.  Additionally, there are board-approved scholarships for families that apply. For more details, visit our office or schedule an educational consultation with the Director.

What curriculum do you use?

HCA uses a variety of curriculums for different grade levels.  We use traditional Christian school programs and curricula from a variety of publishers.  We teach from Florida State Standards using a variety of resources. Overall, the goal is quality, interactive, and innovative.

Do you follow the public school calendar?

Generally, HCA's calendar is very close to the public school calendar.  We do not often attend school when the public schools do not.  However, we do have additional days off that the public school does not have.  Parents have access to the calendar through the Family Portal.

What are the dress code policies?

HCA requires a school uniform for all students.  Students may wear various items in the appropriate colors (navy blue, evergreen/dark green, white polo or dress shirts; navy or khaki shorts, pants, skorts, or skirts) or school-designed t-shirts.  Appropriate lengths and fit are specified in the school dress code.  Outerwear uniform is also required.

Does the school require background checks on employees?
All administrative, instructional, and support staff employees must complete an FDLE Level 2 background check before beginning employment.  HCA follows Florida Statutes and does not hire any employee with convictions listed.  Please see the FL DOE website for specific violations.
